NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A fatal crash closed a portion of Interstate 24 in South Nashville for several hours Monday morning.

The single-vehicle crash happened around 8:30 a.m. in the eastbound lanes just after the Haywood Lane exit.

Metro police said 26-year-old Kaitlyn Cash, a Nashville woman, was killed in the crash.

Police said Cash was driving at a high-rate of speed on the left shoulder of I-24, when she sideswiped another vehicle and hit the concrete median wall.

Cash’s vehicle then crossed over all four lanes of traffic and slammed into a rock embankment, according to investigators.

No other injuries were reported.

All eastbound lanes of the interstate were closed for several hours. The road has since reopened.
